Search for miniature paraw open

In celebration of Paraw Regatta, the SM City Iloilo, Metro Iloilo Dinagyang Jaycees and Philippine Institute of Architects – Iloilo Section are hosting a “Paraw Miniature Contest” as one of the event that will add color to the festival.

The contest is open to all individuals, municipalities, barangay areas, government agencies, civic organizations, commercial establishments and other legitimate organizations.

The entry should be prepared and submitted not later than 12 noon of February 15 at SM City Activity Center. Late entries will be deducted with three (3) points per day of delay.

The mediums to be used may be of any recyclable objects like styrofore, tin cans, bottles, wood, wires, textile, among others. The entry must have the dimensions of two (2) feet in length and width and three (3) feet in height.

All works should be a prototype of the paraw; have no foul smell and not wet when passed; recent and not a by-product of any commercially miniaturized paraw; structurally safe and sound; and painted, sprayed or pasted provided the textured quality and appearance of recycled materials are still visible.

All entries will be assigned with corresponding number of a First-Come-First-Served Basis. The names of the participants will only be known to the contest organizers and will be revealed only during the awarding of prizes. The entries will not be allowed any identification mark in any form.

The judging period will be from February 15-17. There will be five members of the Board of Judges whose identities are confidential and that their decision will be final and unappealable.     

The judging of entries will be based on the following criteria: originality and creativity – 25 percent; innovativeness and craftsmanship – 25 percent; visual impact – 25 percent; relevance to the standard design of paraw and proportioning of work – 25 percent.

Prizes are P8,000 – first place; P5,000 – second place; and P3,000 – third place. The 5 Juror's choice will receive P1,000 each. The awarding of winners will be on February 17, 6:00 in the evening at SM City Activity Center.
