A leader of leaders

As Central Philippine University (CPU) celebrates its centennial this years, we need to focus to a man who orchestrates the tremendous support of thousands of alumni here and abroad.

Catedral

This man is Dr.Glenn A. M. Catedral, President of CPU Alumni Association, Inc. since 1996.

Dr. Glenn Catedral is the leader of 28 active officers and directors of CPUAAI composed of Demy Sonza, Dr. Felice G. Molina. Ben T. Jimena, Adela S. Cerdana, Dr. Florentino P. Alerta, Atty. Joshua C. Alim, Atty. Nery Duremdes, Atty. Von Lovel D. Bedona, Pros. Jeremy Bionat, Atty. Rodolfo V. Cabado, Francis U. Griño, Engr. Samson J. Guillergan, Pro. Globert J. Justalero, Dr. Rolando R. Padilla, and Atty. Alejandro S. Somo.

Lee L. Chuan, Neonita A. Gobuyan, Engr. Aurora A. Lim, Noel Azarcon, Sr. Supt. Leonardo Magno (Ret.), Gen. Elvegia Mendoza, Robert Demafiles, Dr. Lester Edwin Ruiz, Dr. Noel Nequin, Nelson R. Ayala, Mauro Samodio, ex-officio, CPU President Juanito M. Acanto and Prof Ricardo C. Patricio.

Leading the CPUAAI team of leaders and its 126 chapters here and abroad is a great feat for this man.

He leads this power of CPUAAI in managing various projects as the alumni van, improvement of alumni promenade, the grand opening of the centennial celebration, switching on the Festival of Lights, Centennial Celebration Parade last January 18 in Iloilo City and alumni invitational golf tournament.

Dr. Catedral was bom on August 7, 1942.

He is the son of the late Dr. Alfredo P. Catedral and Ret. English Professor of CPU Esperanza Mayordomo Catedral.

He has seven children, namely: Glenn Jr., Glenn Anthony, Glenn Alfred John, Hernani Glenn, Glenna Hope Joyce, Francis Grace and Jared Mark.

He started studying from CPU since kindergarten, elementary and high school.

An American Field Service Scholar in 1960 in Port Washington, Wisconsin, USA.

He completed his Bachelor of Science in Pre-Medicine and Bachelor of Arts in Social Science from CPU and Doctor of Medicine from the University of the Philippines in 1970.

A Diplomat, Philippine of Board of Radiology, Fellow Philippine College of Radiology and is professor in different medical schools in this city.

He is Dean of the College of Medicine of CPU.

Dr. Catedral had been the president of Philippine College of Radiology of the Visayas, Iloilo Medical Society, Rotary Club of Iloilo and Iloilo Accredited Professional Association.

In 1991, he was awarded by the Philippine Medical Association as Most Outstanding Physician and Outstanding Rotary Club President.

As a physician, he traveled to Singapore, Malaysia, Hong kong, Japan, Canada and U.S. A.

He loves sports and had been a member of the Philippine Soccer Football-Senior Division, Track & Field-CPU Multiple Medalists, bowling, golf, chess and tennis.

At present , he is the over-all chairman of the CPU Alumni Golfer's Association.

This dynamic leader is ably managing the various activities of the centennial celebration along with CPU President Juanito M. Acanto and Centennial Over-all Chairman Edwin Lopez.

As the public anticipate the grandiose celebration of CPU this year, CPU Alumni President Dr. Glenn A. M. Catedral is a man to watch as he leads Alumni mother chapter run the show smoothly.
