NFA guarantees quality of rice being sold in the market

The National Food Authority has assured the public that government rice being sold in markets are of good quality, dismissing fears of it being inferior to commercial rice.

NFA Regional Director Javier Lozada said their supplies are sometimes mistaken as commercial rice unlike in previous years when people would associate NFA rice with too much chemicals.

"We are striving to have good quality rice," Lozada said.

NFA Provincial Manager Hedy G. Jardeleza supported the statement of Lozada, claiming that the well-milled imported rice variety is at par with the quality of commercial rice.

The agency is now releasing NFA rice to the market through its accredited retailers to cushion the impact of the grain's shortage.

The product is now available in 115 outlets in Iloilo and Guiramas.

Lozada, speaking before members of the confederation of Grains Retailer Association (GRECON) on Thursday, also sought the cooperation of the group in the distribution of rice.

He stressed that social responsibility should be given utmost consideration over and above the money that they will earn in the business.

Likewise, he urged the public to inform their office should there be comments or complaints regarding their services. PNA
