Never trust an 'actor'
Her Excellency Pres. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo was absolutely right in her State of National Emergency declaration at the height of the coup attempt initiated by some ambitious military crooks and elements from militant left-wing groups.
Leftist lawmakers are making a howl upon learning they would soon be arrested by government police authorities on rebellion and insurrection grounds.
One female legislator named Liza Maza was frothing like hell as she accuses this government of resorting to Martial Law in guise of Presidential Proclamation 1017. Likewise, her colleagues in the House, Satur Ocampo, Teodoro Casiño, Rafael Mariano and Joel Virador joined in chorus accusing PGMA the same.
If I were to make my own assessment, I consider these people as the real "terrorists" and destabilizers in our midst.
And by the way, allow me to include the likes of Ms. Susan Roces, FPJ's widow, and former Pres. Corazon Cojuangco Aquino.
Susan was already an icon; a living legend deserving to have her name carved in the niche as far as the local movie industry is concerned.
In my younger years, I used to watch her movie together with her late husband Fernando Poe, Jr. a.k.a. the "King." Two of which I considered memorable and my favorite are "Sa Dulo ng Daigdig" and "Perlas ng Silanganan."
I was a typical movie fan, then, though at the same time, I was also partial to watching English classic movies.
Susan, however, is number one in my list being an Ilongga, followed by her closest rival Amalia Fuentes.
There were times I would save my "baon" for months in preparation for her forthcoming movies, such as Debutante, Mga Anghel sa Lansangan, Susan, Susay, Susie; Susanang Daldal, Susanang Daldal vs. Amaliang Mali-mali, so on and so forth.
If I were to list them down, it may take a lot of volumes good enough for publication of a book.
Sometimes in my dreams I would find myself playing the role of Gabriel deeply in love with Maruja. Gabriel then is being portrayed by the debonair actor Romeo Vasquez and Maruja by who else, but my favorite Ms. Susan Roces in the film of the same title.
That's how fanatic I was as far as watching movies is concerned.
But all this had drastically changed when FPJ reluctantly decided to threw his hat in the political arena by challenging a minute giant in the presidential derby. It was a battle he has never been trained and was never meant to be.
The "King" is primarily an actor. It runs in his genes. His mission is to entertain, make people happy, sometimes sad, depending on the script he was required to act.
His world is the world of "make-believe." What you see in him is not necessarily what you get.
As we all knew, FPJ died not realizing his other "mission" to lead this nation into greatness. His death created disenchantment to his supporters.
Eventually, this also resulted to his widow to turn into like a screaming fag accusing GMA an illegitimate president of this republic.
Susan's manner of treating political issues which she was not well-versed of, had brought a monster out of her. In essence her stature being an icon had apparently reduced her into a lowly fishwife. Indeed, it was her real self as seen by the public.
God must have some other purpose. Hence, series of events are unfolding before our eyes to serve perhaps as a wake up call.
But let me tell you, sir. Next time around, never trust an "actor"!
