POEA cautions Ilonggo UAE applicants using tourist visas
The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration 6 (POEA 6) reiterated its call to Ilonggos who are applying for overseas jobs to adhere to the proper processes set by the government to protect them against any illegal recruitment and human trafficking activities of fraudulent groups.
POEA 6 Director Rhea Glynda Calantas said their Central Office recently issued an advisory cautioning applicants for overseas jobs in the United Arab Emirates using tourist visas.
According to the POEA Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) Advisory, the UAE immigration authorities are currently conducting a random check among establishments and companies to determine if they are employing expatriates with tourist visas.
"This is a clear indication that immigration authorities are now seriously implementing the prohibition for visit visa holders to work, paid or unpaid, either on a part - time or full time basis", the advisory said.
Visit visa holders found to be violating the law are subject to immediate deportation following the detention for seven days while their employer face penalty.
Filipino travelers with intention to work in UAE should realize that visit visas are issued strictly for visit (tourist) purpose and not for employment, the advisory added.
