COA unearths questionable Capitol deals anew

Government auditors have now asked officials of the Iloilo Provincial Government to explain and justify millions in expenses deemed as either unauthorized, irregular, illegal, inaccurate and doubtful.

Despite COA warning, Capitol fails to slow down on food expense

Despite previous audit observation and official 'sentiments' raised against excessive meals at the Capitol, the Commission on Audit (COA) found themselves with similar findings in last year's food expenses of the Iloilo Provincial Government.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) destroyed this portion of Rizal Street, perhaps for renovation, only to be left unattended for unknown reasons. It has been observed that several other roads in the city suffer the same fate.

Treñas calls for residents' participation on dengue drive

City Mayor Jerry Treñas has called on the public to cooperate in the campaign against the dreaded dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) which has already claimed the lives of three children in the city.

Treñas said residents should once again implement a clean-up drive in their respective community in order to destroy the breeding grounds of Aedes aegypti mosquito which is the carrier of the DHF.

City gov't fails to account some P1B PPE

The Treñas administration has yet to account some P1,079,514,843.66 of the total P1,134,165,139.07 Property Plant and Equipment (PPE) of the city government as reflected in the 2005 audit report of the Commission on Audit (COA).

BIR-WV's June collection 30% higher

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) in Western Visayas was able to collect P8.5 million in taxes for the month of June this year, a thirty percent increase from the previous year's collection of the same period.

PSB releases P8.4 M financial aid to public elementary, high schools

A total amount of P8,407,000.00 worth of checks was released by the Provincial School Board (PSB) yesterday to public elementary and secondary schools.

Tupas not allowed as TWG chair

The Commission on Audit (COA) is now calling for top Capitol officials to refund the provincial government nearly half a million pesos claimed from provincial coffers as payment for their added responsibilities as members of the Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) and the Capitol's Technical Working Group (TWG).
