Iloilo's barangay-based institutions shine in provincial, regional search
Various barangay-based institutions in the Province of Iloilo emerged winners in various search conducted by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) this year.
This was learned from the communication of DILG Provincial Director Eliseo D. Orendez to Gov. Niel D. Tupas, Sr. commending the later for his admirable leadership as well as of the Municipal Mayors and Punong Barangays as partners for a better Iloilo.
In the 2006 search for Most Outstanding Barangay Tanod -- Group Category, which was conducted last July 2006, Brgy. Aganan of Pavia, Iloilo emerged as both the provincial and regional winner while Tanod Angelico A. Argecera, Sr. of Brgy. Poblacion, Alimodian, Iloilo was adjudged First Regional Runner-up in Individual Tanod category.
In the 2006 search for the Lupong Tagapamayapa which, was conducted last August 2006, Brgy. Cabugao Sur, Pavia, Iloilo was adjudged as both the Provincial and Regional Winner for first to third class municipalities and eventually the National Finalist.
In the 2006 Search for Model Gabay sa Mamamayan Action Center (GMAC), Poblacion South, Oton, Iloilo and Brgy. Ungka I, Pavia, Iloilo are nominees for the ongoing Regional Search for Urban Category while Brgy. Amiroy, Mina, Iloilo and Brgy. Camambugan, Dingle, Iloilo for Rural Category.
Orendez said all these performance and productivity of barangay-based institutions were attributed to governor's thrust towards better and more responsive commitment on Local Governance.
