Regional Boy Scouts' jamboree moved to November
ROXAS CITY--The Western Visayas Regional Jamborette of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) that will be hosted by the Province of Capiz has been moved from the original schedule February 21-25 to November of this year.
In its stead, the BSP here will hold a council jamborette March 1-5 at Camp Escutin in Dao town. The camp, located about 32 kilometers from here, will also be the site of the regional event.
The postponement was announced by Roxas City Councilor Mark G. Ortiz, Capiz BSP Council Chairman and Council Scout Executive Leila P. Leonida-Pamati-an based on an announcement from the Department of Education (DepEd) regional office.
Ortiz said DepEd Regional Director Victoriano B. Tirol, Jr. due to conflict of schedules in scouting and athletic activities wherein the Dep Ed is also involved.
Certain athletic events in the region including the Western Visayas Regional Athletic Association Meet and the CHED regional athletic competitions will also be held around the same dates.
Around 3,000 scouts and scouters from various districts of the Capiz Council will participate in the council jamborette slated in March.
Meanwhile, the local council is now on its 60th year of existence in the province. Established in1946, the council marked its founding anniversary last December 28, 2006 with a mass officiated by Fr. Aris Pedrajas and launching of the BSP Jamborette and display of tarpaulin declaring the anniversary celebration at the foot of the Capiz Bridge here.
