Provl board back to business
Members of the 8th Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) meet today for the 21st regular session marked by the presence (or absence) of two who were reelected for yet another term alongside those who lost their reelection bid.
With Presiding Chair, Vice Governor Roberto Armada, the 8th SP will see the final weeks in office of First District Bernardo Silla, Second District Board Member Cecilia Capadosa, Third District Board Member Manny Gallar, Fourth District Board Member Domingo Oso Jr. and Board Member Romeo Palmares, Fifth District Board Member Niel Tupas Jr., and Board Member Eric Barbosa and ex-officio Board Members Angel Briones and Jeneda Salcedo.
Only First District Board Member Macario Napulan and Second District Board Member Rodolfo Cabado will spend three more years in the Capitol with their respective reelection bids victorious.
With business as usual, or so as expected, following weekend's official proclamation of poll winners, in the agenda today are money matters ranging from P1,220 for a top governor's aide to multi-million in approval sought by reelected Governor Niel Tupas Sr.
Topping today's calendar of business is the appropriation sought by Manuel Mejorada of per diems due him during a November travel to Germany. The amount totaled P1,220.
In contrast is the Governor's request for authority to negotiate financing "with any government financing institution" the project proposal for a 7-storey Information Technology Park in Barangay Magsaysay Village, La Paz, Iloilo City.
"It is proposed that this project would be funded with a loan of Three Hundred Eighty Million Pesos (P380,00.00) from a government financial institution. The yearly amortization for the project and other projects in the pipeline is well within the debt-servicing capacity of the Province, hence the request," the Governor in his request for authority stated.
Likewise set for deliberation is yet another authority sought by the Governor to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) for the implementation of road projects over P5.5 million.
Among the planned works is the P1.1 million rehabilitation and improvement of a provincial road in the governor's hometown in Barotac Viejo, P1.19M provincial road in Miag-ao and similarly planned work and amount in Sta. Barbara.
