Bourbon Street launches new selections
Deceivingly small when passing through its main entrance, the busy bistro-style restaurant and bar, Bourbon Street, continues to surpass expectations and sets the standard for casual dining in the city of Iloilo, a big feat indeed.
Bourbon Street started its humble beginning nine months ago with the mission of serving an authentic modern American Dining Experience with its unbelievable ambience and reasonably priced items with portion sizes that are good for sharing.
Regularly updating its menu every season, it is now on its third version, coinciding with the season of Fall.
For the New Menu, the selections include a myriad of food that have the American Bistro influence while injecting some Asian and European twists to the new selections.
Starters are a selection of Award Winning and Original Creations like the:
CRISPY PORK CONES. This Gold Medal Winning Appetizer at the recent Food Showdown 2007 held in Manila is composed of Sautéed Ground Pork in Hoisin Sauce, the sweet and spicy flavor is sure to entice. Then, the SLIDERS (tiny hamburgers), which are miniature burgers gratinated with real mozzarella cheese is a sure American Hit. The pure 100 % Beef Burger is set on an oatmeal smothered bun. THE REAL MEXICAN CHILI CON CARNE --- surely every restaurant has its own version, but for Bourbon Street, this item is a total parade of flavors -served with two kinds of crispy tortilla, vegetable sticks and dip to refresh the palate and a cheese sauce adding a creaminess to the spicy Chili.
The rainy season is not yet over and still the cold months are here to stay. The best way to enjoy the misty evening is to have a bowl of steaming soup, with choices range from CHEDDAR AND SAUSAGE OR BEEF AND POTATO OVERLOAD. These soups are always made from scratch, especially from painstakingly simmered beef or chicken bones to give that all natural flavor and aroma.
For those who would like to enjoy the gourmet experience without the guilt of gaining an extra pound, two new options are offered: PINK SALMON AND PARMESAN salad and the SEARED PEPPER TUNA – protein to a lighter level wherein these are all paired with 100% organic lettuce.
For the main course under the House Specialties section, only the very best and freshest ingredients are used. Presentation also plays a big part in Bourbon Street's cuisine. A high level of sophisticated plating is conducted by the restaurant's creative culinary team on every dish that comes out of the kitchen.
New House Specialty selections include: SHRIMPS IN A BLANKET – fresh shrimps wrapped in bacon and oven roasted, served with a Light Tarragon Crème Sauce. ROYALE BAKED SALMON – oven roasted to perfection with a light crusting of parmesan and butter. This fish dish will surely win the hearts of our local patrons. OVEN ROASTED CHICKEN – for the customers who enjoyed the signature Bourbon flavor but cannot eat pork, they opted to serve it using poultry as the main ingredient. BRAISED BEEF SHANKS comes from the classic Osso Buco or hole in the bone in Italian. The soft and tender beef shanks are simmered for 6 hours to give the melt in the mouth goodness complemented with the very soft bone marrow in the center. This is crusted with Gremolata, an Italian mixture of parmesan cheese, lemon rind, garlic and parsley to balance of the flavor and give life to the usual braised meat.
To cap off the evening, Bourbon Street offers its new dessert selections such as the CRÈME BRULEE TRIO, MILLION LAYER CAKE AND WARM WALNUT PUDDING. All these are made from imported ingredients and are very unique creations of the restaurant's Pastry Chef. Taken with a cup of fine Italian Lavazza coffee, there is no finer way to end a meal.
Every meal at Bourbon Street is meant to delight one's appetite and the best way to enjoy this is to celebrate life's goodness. The flavors and sights are not complete without the enthusiasm that the restaurant team aims to provide for the best experience possible.
