No Aswang Festival this year
There will be no Aswang Festival in Roxas City, Capiz this year. Dugo Capiznon, Inc., organizer of the yearly festival that has helped put Roxas City and Capiz in the country's tourism map, has decided to forgo the holding of the celebration because the present administration is against it. Current officials have actually joined the position of the Catholic church, which has been opposing the holding of the festival since it started a few years ago. Dugo Capiznon Inc. has the noble intention of promoting culture and the arts when it conceptualized the Aswang Festival. Unfortunately, some sectors just can't appreciate the value of the festival.
Dumpsite in the city
Until yesterday morning the garbage, composed mostly of plastics, in a vacant lot near Plazoleta Gay was not removed or taken by the city's garbage collectors. It has been there for almost a week. We don't think the garbage collectors have not seen it as the area is wide open. The scattered garbage is an eye sore and it is very embarrassing if seen by tourists or visitors in the city. We hope Engr. Gallo of the Department of Public Services should take immediate action on this.
