6th Philippine Tatler Ball
Cosmopolitan Manila, a haven for charity parties and glamorous events, was once again abuzz when one of the country's most prestigious Philippine Tatler Ball celebrated its 6th year with elegance and aplomb at the Rizal Ballroom of the Makati Shangri-La Hotel a few weeks ago for the benefit of Gawad Kalinga.
Fashion meets fund raising, as evidenced by the fantastic gowns and glittering jewels that the ladies wore and the men in their dashing tuxedos. The evening was short in speeches but long in style. Cocktails started with no less than Moet et Chandon being served- the bubbly drink of the French aristocracy. Dinner followed with an impeccable menu of Sliced Parma Ham with Haricot Vert with Warm Ricotta Flan and 2005 Laroche Chablis, Lemongrass Soup, Lobster Dumpling and Lime Leaves followed by Avocado Sherbet with Vegetarian Caviar and Ciabatta Melba. Main Course was Herb-crusted Chicken with Portobello Mushroom Ragout, Grilled Salmon with Potato Gratin accompanied by 2003 Mas le Chavalier. Dessert was most divine, Six Textures of Chocolate Mousse, Biscuit, Layers, Ganache, Sauce and Crunch with Moet et Chandon Brut Imperial . A choice ofFreshly Brewed Coffee or Tea with Hennessey XO on the side.
Power singers Isay Alvarez, Bituin Escalante and Mae Bayot did a beautiful rendition of the Dream Girls medley, which had the audience glued to their chairs and under the spell of these powerfully enchanting ladies. Spirit of 67 closed the evening with a high note with their all ballroom dancing music.
The "by invitation only" fund raising event brought in P2.8 million for the Philippine Tatler's beneficiaries, thanks to the generous support of its guests. See you again next year at the 7th Annual Tatler Ball.
