Legal clinic highlights UI Law Week
The In Solidum Frasority, the law student council of the University of Iloilo, will celebrate Law Week on December 19-21, 2007 in pursuit of the theme, "Legacy of Excellence: Our Pride, Our Challenge".
The Law Week is part of the tradition of the College of Law, wherein students, alumni and faculty come together to renew and strengthen their camaraderie through various sports events and other activities. This year, the Seminar-Workshop on Intervention Techniques for Barangay Council and Tanods highlights the celebration.
PO2 Francisco B. Lindero Jr, ISF President, said the Seminar-Workshop is intended for the barangay councils and tanods in the eight waterfront barangays: Concepcion, Zamora-Melliza, Dela Rama, Legaspi, Veterans Village, Sto. Rosario-Duran, Muelle Loney, and Gen. Hughes.
The seminar-workshop includes resolution-making, ordinance-making, how to effect arrests, seizures, prosecute cases, and handle evidence, among others.
"This is just the first of the series of the seminar-workshop that we will be conducting with the barangays in Iloilo City," Lindero said.
Meanwhile, the ISF Council enjoins all law students and the alumni to take pride and be challenged of the history of the College of Law which has produced the likes of former Senator Rodolfo Ganzon, former Congressman and Assemblyman Fermin Z Caram Jr, former Iloilo Governor Conrado J Norada, and the countless of judges, lawyers, and political leaders.
Lindero said the theme is inspired by the recent achievements of the UI-College of Law alumni, like Judge Roger Patricio, Judge Ma. Rita Bascos-Sarabia, Judge Globert Justalero, Judge Rene Gonzales and many others.
Sarabia, who will be the Keynote Speaker during the Law Night on December 21, has recently been appointed Judge and assigned at the Regional Trial Court Branch 58 in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.
