What is in store for the Philippines in 2008?
Will the life of the poverty-stricken Filipinos be better off or still in the threshold of abject poverty in year 2008? Year 2007 saw many unfortunate incidents that happened in the Philippines. From the pages of daily newspapers and from radio and television airwaves year 2007 was not favorable to the poor, but prosperity for the rich, pro-administration officials and GMA's solons. It is also a bad year for the opposition. Is God aware of these happenings not only in the Philippines but all over the world? God is in control of the world He created. God is omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent. The Lord is recording every move righteous people and sinners are doing while still breathing on earth. Names of the good, and the bad Christians are written down in the Book of Life. The wicked rich and politicians are enjoying life on earth and they are happy about it. The sinful poor may suffer the same fate rich and ugly politicians may undergo once they leave their earthly tent someday. Unless, people with filthy lives repent of their sins and confess before God the wrong they have done to their fellowmen, the Bible says their destination is eternal damnation. It is not only confessing our sins but living a life like Jesus Christ while here on earth.
Many Christians are disobedient to God though they go to church and take communion seven days a week. Here's the word of God in Deuteronomy 28:1-2 "Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully His command which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God."
If only our highest government officials, politicians and people will heed the Word of God, Year 2008 will experience God's blessings. 1 John 1:7, "But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin."
Come back to God administration officials, politicians and opposition. Ecclesiastes 7:14, "In the day of prosperity be joyful, but in the day of adversity consider: surely God has appointed one as well as the other, so that man can find out nothing will come after him."
Before the Lord comes anytime now, be sure that you have confessed your sins, be born again and live a life like your Savior Jesus Christ. Meditate on St. Paul's message in Romans 12:1, "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service."
