Blue Chili Teahouse opens
The Blue Chili staff and the classy dining area
Oriental food has always appealed to many. The possibilities of creating an interplay of spices with pork, beef, chicken, fish or vegetables is vast, thus providing the diner the chance for an ultimate gastronomic experience.
What's even more appealing is the opportunity to experience Oriental flavors at an affordable price.
Blue Chili Teahouse, located at the second level of Urban Inn, Luna Street, La Paz, offers such experience. It held its grand opening last Friday, Jan. 18, 2008.
The name in itself speaks of what the teahouse is all about. Its owner, Arlene Juantong, revealed that "Blue" aims to inform the public that the teahouse is a continuity of Blue Jay Coffee's reputation for excellent food and service. Indeed Blue Chili is doing just that --- providing great food and service at an affordable price. "Chili" refers to the fruit of the capsicum, a spice that is a main ingredient in Oriental food.
Blue Chili serves dimsum, rice toppings, congee, noodles and exciting desserts and beverages. The rice topping varieties are Beef Brisket, Pork Spareribs, Asado Pork, White Chicken, Fish Fillet in Corn Sauce, Fried Pork Chop, Chicken Feet with Spareribs and Curry Beef. The News Today tried out Pork Asado and Curry Beef Rice Toppings and these were such heavenly feasts. The meat is succulent. The layers of herbs and spices infused on the meat as well as the sauce the trickles down to the rice makes one crave for another bite.
Its dimsum varieties are Beef Balls, Siomai, Dumplings, Chicken Feet, Pork Spareribs, Raddish Cake, Lomaikai, Spring Rolls, Shaolong Pao, Siopao Bolabola/Asado, Hakaw and Hot Salad Roll. The congee offerings are Seafood, Pork Bola-Bola, Pork with Century Egg, Mixed Meat and Beef. The dessert list includes Portugese Egg Tart, Creamy Mango Sago, Buko Pandan Salad, Lychee Almond Salad, Coffee Jelly with Ice Cream, Buchi and Lo Mai Chi.
These mouth-watering creations are completed with a relaxed ambience provided by red furniture, fixtures and lanterns. There are murals that feature Chinese images presented in a contemporary syle. The restaurant has a glass room fitted for intimate dates and exclusive tete-a-tete. It is orchestrated wih bamboo walls and floors.
The restaurant, which operates at 8 am until 11 pm daily, caters to small functions, too.
