Iloilo City's contenders for the prestigious Miss Teen Philippines search are Kchyrziahshayne Dynelle Venus Dinopol, 16 and Joanna Ignacio Gonzalez, 15. They bested 10 others during the Panay-wide finals last April 19, 2008 at Robinsons Place Iloilo. They will compete with teenagers coming from key cities of the country in the Miss Teen Philippines International Pageant Night at the CAP Auditorium, Davao City on May 31, 2007 at 6:00 pm. The telecast will be on June 7, 2008.
Dinopol is a student of Central Philippine University while Gonzalez studies at the Mandurriao National High School. The other contenders were: Micah Gensaya, De Paul College; Ju Louise Garong, Iloilo National High School; Jiezle Loplop, Iloilo National High School; Joanna Gonzalez, Mandurriao National High School; Jona Sabia, Iloilo City National High School; Elim Christine Moreno, St. Paul College; Angelyn Pesidente, West Visayas State University - Pototan Campus; Maricris Dumalay, Tina National High School – Dueñas; Lies 'L Dace Balleras, Iloilo National High School; Elizabeth Catipay, Iloilo National High School; Karla Dawn Yaneza, Don Felix Serra National High School - San Joaquin; and Norah Al-Ghunaim, Central Philippine University.
What's striking about the search was that the candidates were intelligence. After all, 40 percent of the criteria was focused on intelligence. The contenders were asked about their views on marriage, education, tourism, youth, environment, social behavior and technology, among others. Anchored on education and personality development, Miss Teen Philippines International 2008 aims to bring together confident, intelligent, and talented teen candidates from all over the country and various Filipino Communities abroad to compete in the search for a youth representative that would serve as the role model for the Philippine youth.
