Make Global Prayer daily habit
Where did thousands of charismatic and born again Christians and Pastors in Iloilo go during the Global Day of Prayer Saturday afternoon May 10 at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol ground? It was really a significant day as the present condition around the globe is alarming. Over a million people are starving aside from about 150,000 missing in Myanmar (Burma) cyclone; 900 children buried in a school in Xinhua province, China, as a result of the 7.8 magnitude earthquake; volcanic disaster in Chile; 5 states damaged in the U.S., fire in Australia, rampant killings of innocent civilians in Sudan, civil disturbance in Lebanon, unprecedented floods in Mindanao and scores of other calamities around the world.
Prayer is voicing people's concerns to God Almighty. God really answers prayer. The handful of Pentecostal and Evangelical Christians tarried beyond eight Saturday evening praying and crying to God for repentance of sins of the nations. More than 300 devotees and twelve pastors lifted up their voices to heaven and petitioned God for forgiveness and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, healing the sins of nations and peace in troubled areas of Europe, Asia, Middle East and in the Arab world. Corrupt officials in the government who are blamed for the miseries and hardships of the people were not spared in the cleansing prayer.
The Holy Scripture says that prayers of righteous people availeth much. 1 King 8:45, "Then hear in heaven their prayer and their supplications, and their cause." 1 Peter 3:12, "For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and His ears are open to their prayers; but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil." Twelve Pastors who prayed during the Global Day of Prayer rally Saturday afternoon asked God for mercy and forgiveness of sins committed by people all over the world. Pastor Jose Estrebilla asked God for repentance of the sins of the body of Christ; Pastor Abner Batan prayed for the repentance of the sins of the nations.
Video presentation about Israel and Jerusalem was exhibited. As many Christians know, Israel, the chosen nation of God, is surrounded by Arab nations. In 1948 and 1973 Middle East wars, the Israelites army was outnumbered, outmaneuvered, outflanked by Syria, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Egypt, Libya and Lebanon but came out victorious. Many journalists covering the wars said that the hand of God was on Israel.
Prayer warriors also prayed for Pres. Gloria Arroyo, members of Congress, and all local government officials for repentance, healing and peace. Bishop Johnny Yasa, Pastor of Bethel Temple Assemblies of God, prayed for blessing of Christ to all people and nation. Pastor Joniel Howard Gico, Vice Pres. for Administration of CPU, prayed for resounding call of God. Prayer to God should be done daily in homes, offices, churches, farms and in public gatherings. Pray without ceasing and come closer to God in prayer daily.
