Easing PWDs' plight after Frank
City Councilor Arman Parcon.
Many differently-abled persons benefitted from I-Help, a relief operation by the Emergency Coordinating Council for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the City and Province of Iloilo last July 10, 2008 at the Jaro Plaza canteen. The same was held in Barotac Viejo and Concepcion.
The project aimed to help and ease the lives of PWDs in Iloilo who were affected by typhoon Frank.
The relief goods that were distributed were rice, medicine, sugar, coffee, and sardines. The operation was in partnership with Christian Blind Mission, Provincial Government of Iloilo, Municipal Local Government Units, Iloilo Provincial Federation of Differently Abled Persons, Iloilo Medical Society, I-Code, Canadian Cooperative Association, Association of Disabled Person-Iloilo, Inc., Association of Differently- abled Persons in Iloilo Multi-Purpose Cooperative, Association of Persons with Disabilities in Iloilo City and the Iloilo City Government.
Jane Humeno, an I-Code representative aids in
the distribution.
Luis Posa, an ADPI leader, is encouraging PWDs to be registered. "So we won't have a hard time locating and knowing those who are in need of assistance," he said.
