Slain broadcaster's wife wants mastermind behind bars
ROXAS CITY – The wife of slain Radio Mindanao Network (RMN)-DYVR broadcaster Martin Roxas wanted the mastermind in the murder of his husband to be also put in jail.
Hayna Roxas, 26, told The News Today that she will pursue the case against the suspects and even the mastermind who killed her husband in line of duty.
Suspects Christian Tan and Jonel Lastimoso are currently detained at the Roxas City PNP station. They were arrested by police at a checkpoint in Ivisan town minutes after the shooting. They fit the description provided by the witnesses.
Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 regional director Chief Supt. Isagani Cuevas assured the Roxas family to solve the killing as quick as possible.
He said they have a strong case against the two suspects.
Cuevas, however, could not say who is behind the killing of Roxas.
Meanwhile, Sen. Mar Roxas condemned the murder of Roxas. Media organizations Kapisanan ng Mga Broadcaster sa Pilipininas (KBP) - Capiz Chapter, National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP) - Capiz and Capiz Independent Media Circle also also denounced the killing of their colleague.
Meanwhile, Ely Abarra, Station Manager of RMN-DYVR, told TNT that Roxas' untimely demise is a big loss to the network.
However, he added that the death of Roxas is never a hindrance to RMN Roxas to tell the truth and to continue its crusade of exposing graft and corruption, injustices and abuse of power.
Abarra said Roxas has been tackling many controversial issues in his program such as the alleged anomalies at city hall, capitol, the proposed skywalks and relocation site in Culasi.
The Roxas City PNP Station yesterday filed murder charges against Lastimoso and Tan at the city prosecutor's office.
