The Bacolod SP on the other hand approved the request on Wednesday's regular session set to augment the P30 million needed for the P12,000 extra cash gift of qualified city government employees. It will cover both regular and plantilla casual workers of the city.
The august body passed an appropriation ordinance pursuant to the provisions of Section 336 of the Local Government Code.
The city mayor hastened the request to ensure that the cash gift will be released to employees in time for the Christmas season.
About 2,258 qualified city employees are entitled to receive a cash gift of P12,000 each.
All the employees who can avail the benefits are "very happy" saying that they will experience a 'white Christmas' this 2008.
Leonardia said the city employees are very deserving to receive this kind of bonus as everybody is working together for the people.
"As long as it is legal, the city government will give what is due to the employees", the mayor said.
