Treñas orders total gun ban in city’s malls, restos, public places
A public notice is out ordering the total ban and prohibition of firearms inside all of the city’s malls, restaurants, bars and similar public establishments.
Issued by Iloilo City Mayor Jerry P. Treñas, the order is now in full effect thus barring licensed gun owners and regulating further here the gun ownership and possession when in public places.
“Any person is prohibited from intentionally carrying a firearm, openly or concealed, while on the premises of this establishment whether the person carrying such firearm is licensed to do so,” the mayor’s orders went. “Any person is also prohibited from introducing or attempting to introduce a firearm into or upon the premises or any area of this building or establishment.”
With the public notice also came the reminders from the mayor’s office on particular restrictions of government-allowed gun possession.
“Permit to carry firearm outside residence is non-transferable. The firearm must not be displayed or exposed to public viewing. The firearm shall not be brought inside the public drinking and amusement places and all other commercial or public establishments and the unexpired license or authority to possess the firearm must always be carried with this permit. Expired licenses must be renewed,” the public Notice continued.
The mayor’s order called on the public to report any violation to the city’s police with “hotline” numbers stated and provided.
The notices are expected to be posted immediately.
