Helper stabs, hammers employer’s nieces
BACOLOD CITY – The 16 year-old house helper who allegedly hit with a hammer a 10 year-old girl and stabbed the girl's 17 year-old sister has been placed under custody of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) Women and Children Protection Center.
WCPC head Inspector Leilani Garcia said after their investigation they will refer the case to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Police investigation showed that the helper, a native of San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, has worked for a year at the house owned by the victims’ aunt in Brgy. Estefania, Bacolod City.
Before the incident, the 10 year-old was playing with the house helper while her elder sister was taking a bath.
Because of the alleged harbored anger against her employer by thinking that she will be terminated from her job, the helper hit the head of the 10 year-old with a hammer.
A couple of minutes later, the 17 year-old went inside her room and the house helper, who was shouting, barged inside and attacked her with a kitchen knife.
“The 17-year-old was able to wrest the bladed weapon from the suspect and throw it out of the window. She then went out of the room to seek help and saw her little sister with head injuries,” police said.
The 10 year-old girl sustained injuries on the head while her elder sister suffered multiple stab wounds, both were rushed to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital.
The helper tried to evade arrest by hiding in a marshland behind her employer’s residence but surrendered after a 20-minute negotiation.
