Lady councilor urges inquiry on 'live sex' scandal
BACOLOD CITY -- Sangguniang Panglungsod Member Celia Matea R. Flor, chair of the Committee on Women and Gender, urged her colleagues in the City Council to conduct an inquiry relative to the alleged "Live Sex Scandal" that scratched and deeply eroded the already sullied integrity of the council as a whole.
Flor drafted last Tuesday an open letter to her colleagues expressing a deep concern on the issue that has been the butt of derogatory jokes and at worst, of vilification by the general public.
"I have been a member of the city council for about eleven years and whole members have been embroiled in one controversy or the other, this alleged "sex scandal" is one which has not only scratched but deeply eroded the already sullied integrity of the council as a whole. Therefore, this needs our full discernment if we are to redeem the respect of the people who trusted us to lead them with honor and integrity," Flor said.
She clarified that the purpose in doing this is to know who is or are behind this story, which may be made up for partisan political ends.
Flor suggested that if these stories were not true, all those responsible in the publication or broadcast of this irresponsible stories be made accountable by seeking suspension from their respective working institutions or prosecution in the court of law.
Flor urged her fellow colleagues to be responsible and accountable so that the integrity and honor of the council could be redeemed. "We have been given the distinct function and responsibility by law to enact ordinances and policies which should redound to public welfare and protect the morals of the people. We make people and establishments of this city accountable when they violate our ordinances and policies," Flor added.
