All set for 2nd round of Clean and Green tilt
The 21 barangay finalists in the Clean and Green Contest here will undergo the second round of evaluation starting August 15 to determine the top 3 barangay winners, best district and best plaza categories during the grand awarding rites slated on September 15, 2009.
City Mayor Jerry P. Treñas said the selected barangays will showcase the best clean and green practices to pave the way and serve as models in discipline, resourcefulness, cleanliness and cooperation to the total 180 city barangays here.
The best district category will showcase the best clean and green barangays and the best plaza with prizes of P30,000, P20,000 and P15,000 respectively for first second, second and third placers on top of P1 million prize for projects for the best district; same cash prizes for the barangays on top P500,000 worth of barangay projects for the champion barangay; and same cash prizes for the district plaza winners.
The finalists are Brgys. Dungon A, San Jose and Ma. Cristina in Jaro district; San Isidro, Jereos and Magsaysay Village in La Paz district; Mansaya, Progreso and Don Esteban in Lapuz district; Sto Domingo, Sta Cruz and Dulonan in Arevalo district; Monica-Blumentritt, Villa Anita and San Jose in the city proper; San Rafael, Bakhaw and PHHC Blk. 17 in Mandurriao district; and San Pedro, North Fundidor and North Baluarte in Molo district.
The board of judges composed, mostly of heads of civic and professional clubs in the city, will start evaluation of finalists from zero score in three finalist barangays each seven districts here. The result of barangay evaluation will also become the basis of giving 60 percent score to the district vying in the district category.
The district will also be given 40 percent in well maintained public facilities such as well maintained public or covered gym, transport terminal, port or wharf, health center, day care center, gas station, public elementary school, public high school, thoroughfares, police precinct and restaurant.
Businessman Joeboy Agriam, head of the board of judges, said evaluation will go on as scheduled and the punong barangay concerned and the district Liga ng mga Barangay president will lead the judges in these public facilities to be scored. The Liga president will only select one of the best public facilities listed in the criteria to show to the judges. (PNA)
