Foul play eyed on Tadtad member’s death
ROXAS CITY – The Philippine National Police (PNP) Crime Laboratory is eying a possible foul play on the death of a Tadtad member who allegedly committed suicide inside the Pilar police station recently.
Dr. Owen Libaquen said over RMN-dyVR that autopsy conducted on the cadaver of Jaylou Tamayo showed hematoma and bruises on the different parts of his body.
Libaquen said the hematoma and bruises found on Tamayo's body are inconsistent and incompatible with one who has committed suicide.
Tamayo, 42, of Sitio Solidad Brgy. Sinamungang, was found lifeless last Thursday afternoon inside the jail of Pilar Police Station after he hanged himself with blanket.
Police said that Tamayo had become problematic after charges of frustrated homicide and illegal possession of firearm were filed against him.
At one instance he reportedly even urged the police to shoot him inside the police station.
However, the family of the victim, who are in doubt of the incident, requested the authority to conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death of Tamayo.
Tamayo shot Inspector Nasser Canja, Pilar police chief, last July 26 during a benefit dance in Barangay Sinamungan, Pilar, Capiz when the latter and his men conducted an operation “bakal” among dance goers to maintain peace and order.
When the police discovered that Tamayo was carrying a gun, Tamayo ran away and fired three times towards the arresting police.
Thinking that Tamayo already ran out of bullets, Canja tried to pursue the suspect who then shot back hitting Canja on the neck.
Canja was immediately brought to the St. Anthony Hospital for medical treatment where he was declared out of danger.
