Napulan seeks aid for displaced Tubungan locals
A Resolution was passed before the Iloilo Provincial Board seeking financial assistance for displaced locals of Tubungan, Iloilo.
Numbering to nearly 1,000 individuals, First District Board Member Macario Napulan sounded off the plea for Capitol help.
This, as government relief efforts continue with the affect residents evacuated because of mudflow and landslide brought by typhoons Jolina and Kiko.
The Resolution was addressed to Iloilo Governor Niel Tupas Sr. with Tubungan barangays Igtuble, Igpaho and Molina as beneficiary-villages.
“(Whereas), as of August 10, 2009 records of the Disaster Coordinating Council of the said municipality reveal that a total of 217 households, and 939 persons were transferred from the affected barangay to their temporary evacuation areas; (Whereas), there were 159 households and a total of 690 persons who were evacuated at Tubungan covered court and 58 households and 249 persons were evacuated at Brgy. Bantayan; (Whereas), these victims are in dire need of food, clothing and other supplies in order to lessen their burden and to provide at the very least for their temporary comfort and safety and (Whereas), the Municipality’s meager resources is not enough to provide for the needs of all the victims affected by the said catastrophe,” excerpts of the Resolution went.
Napulan’s plea for Capitol intervention got the unanimous backing of the entire board members present led by fellow First District Board Member Richard Garin and fully supported by Presiding Chair, Vice Governor Rolex Suplico.
