Two tributes to the Great Lady of the Lizareses

The Balay ni Tana Dicang Museum in Talisay, Negros Occidental is having two exhibits.
The Inyong Hall is showcasing “Higugma” to honor the couple Efigenio Lizares and Enrica Alunan, exhibiting love poetry and prayers for good fortune in Hiligaynon. The exhibit depicts the manners and traditions of marriage from the turn of the last century in the Visayas, specifically in Panay and Negros.
The Capitana Gallery is presenting “Portrait of a Lady,” portraits of Enrica Alunan- Lizares, or Tana Dicang in 120 various artworks made by various artists from Manila, Ilo-ilo, and Bacolod, to commemorate her 154th birth anniversary.
Enrica Alunan Lizares was born July 15, 1855. She was a great lady and the matriarch of the Lizares clan. She was widowed at the age of 47 and had raised 14 children. She died during the Second World War, 1942 at 87. And these two exhibits is a tribute for her.
Exhibits started last July 15 and will run until October 15, 2009.
