Silay 4-Day Painting Exhibit
Silay Ctiy government presents paintings from the Ramon H. Hofilena Collection featuring timeless pieces of Filipino masters at the Sen. Jose C. Locsin Cultural and Civic Center.
Twelve priceless artworks by National Artists Vicente Manansala and H.R. Ocampo, Romeo Tabuena, Manuel Rodriquez Sr., Lamberto Hechanova, Larry Ramos Tronco, Lino Severino Jr., Eleazar Santiago and Conrado Judith were on display from September 14 to 18 as part of Silay City’s week-long celebration of the tourism month. This year’s theme is Tourism: Celebrating Diversity.
Silay-based artist and expert on Negros culture, history and art, Hofilena said the paintings are just some of the artworks of more than 200 local and foreign artists who have exhibited in Silay. He added almost all of these artists are from Negros Occidental except for Manansala, Ocampo and Rodriguez.
Included in the exhibition were: Manansala’s “U.P. Campus”; Ocampo’s “Leaves”; Rodriguez’ “Three Maggis”; Tronco’s “Vendedor Ambulante”; Severino’s “Witchita Landscape”; and Judith’s “Nativity” and “Patilik”. These pieces come in oil, water color, pencil, pastel, casein and etching.
