City gives financial assistance to various coops
BACOLOD CITY — Mayor Evelio Leonardia, on behalf of the Bacolod City Government, turned over last Monday at least P320,000 to various cooperatives to help fund their various projects and skills training programs.
These cooperatives were the Luzuriaga-Bonifacio Fish Vendors’ Association, Metro Bacolod Multi-Purpose Transport Service Cooperative, Handumanan Group of Women Multi-Purpose Cooperative, Basita MPC, and BAITODA, Inc.
The city government also turned over last week P600,000 to the Philippine Association of Social Workers Negros Occidental chapter and to the Philippine National Red Cross to augment funds for their various programs and activities.
Leonardia lauded the initiative and strong spirit of cooperativism of the various groups whom he said were very instrumental to the growth of many livelihood projects in the city.
He also encouraged other groups to seek help from CCLDO for the formal establishment of their cooperatives and the other existing cooperatives for the holding of skills and training programs.
