Iloilo City (host) Lions Club adopts Barangay Calaparan

Grace Ormas, MJF, other Lion officials and Barangay Officials at the Calaparan Barangay Hall.Iloilo City (Host) Lions Club District 301-B officially announces that Barangay Calaparan, Arevalo, Iloilo City is its adopted barangay after the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement between Lion President Dr. Greg Sancho, MJF on behalf of Iloilo City (Host) Lions Club and Punong Barangay Fred Caturas on behalf of Barangay Calaparan.
The project aims to improve the living conditions of the residents in the barangay by identifying their problems and providing them with the necessary guidance and assistance through projects that would benefit them. It will also instill the spirit of volunteerism by motivating active participation of the residents on projects that would improve their living conditions and encourage family participation on sustainable livelihood projects that would help them financially.
As an opening salvo, a medical mission was conducted. Free medical consultant and free medicines were given to more than 100 indigent residents of the barangay.
A feeding session on more than 100 children was held simultaneous with a seminar on Maternal and Infant Mortality conducted by the Panay Council Area Chairman and Lion Past President Ma. Grace Ormas, MJF. Ormas is currently the Dean of the College of Midwifery at Iloilo Doctor’s College. She is also the coordinator of the Adopt a Barangay Project of the Iloilo City (Host) Lions Club District 301-B.
