MESSAGE
The guest of honor for this year’s awarding ceremony was Atty. Lesley Jeanne Y. Cordero, the Commissioner-at-Large of the National Youth Commission under the Office of President of the Philippines. Atty. Cordero, a 2001 TOSP Region 7 awardee, shared her own piece of story. “There is something more important than that award. It is the obligation that is attached to that trophy – the huge responsibility to help mold and shape other young leaders to be like you. As they say, to whom much is given, much is also expected in return. Today, you are given much so it is now your duty to give back and share to others, to your organizations, to your community whatever you have learned. Now more than ever, in a society where hopelessness is pervasive, you need to be the hope and help give others hope. I hope that you will keep in mind that when you will be handed that trophy, it is not because you are brilliant but because you have made a difference in the lives of others, people believe in you and people look up to you. So never let the award get into your head. Never let the award define you because it is not who you are,” she emphasized to TOSP Batch 2010.
