Dinagyang’s Paghidaet joins Independence Day parade
Tribu Paghidaet of La Paz National High School, the champion of Aliwan Fiesta 2010 will join the grand parade to commemorate the 112th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence Day in front of Quirino Grandstand at the Rizal Park in Manila at 4pm-6pm on June 12.
Iloilo City Tourism Officer Ben Jimena said the organizer National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) (formerly National Historical Institute) invited Mayor Jerry Trenas for the Paghidaet’s participation.
The parade will focus on the milestone achievements of the Arroyo administration specifically on the socio-economic programs that have benefited millions of Filipinos throughout the country.
The two-hour presentation will feature the country’s leading performing artists and street dance performers from the regions and Manila.
Jimena said it’s an honor for Iloilo City to showcase the Ilonggos cultural excellence through the famous Dinagyang Festival which has been a crowd favorite in various national performances. Paghidaet is one of the selected six performing groups in the country to participate in the event.
President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, government officials and members of diplomatic corps will grace the momentous occasion. (PIO)
