Ivisan mayor to prioritize environmental protection
IVISAN, Capiz – Mayor Felipe Neri Yap said he will prioritize environmental protection and the beautification of his town in his second term.
Yap said his constituents will be given seedlings to be planted at home.
He said he wants to protect mangrove trees to the revive marine life in the coastal areas.
“Planting of trees may solve global warming,” Yap said, adding that he is pushing for the planting of royal palm trees that will be declared as a symbol of Ivisanon’s vigorous character. The palm trees, as ornamental trees, are grown at the municipal plaza.
The mayor is also organizing sports competition for drivers of trisikad, tricycles, jeepney and trucks.
The Mayor Ipe Cup dubbed “Pagpalangga ni Mayor Ipe Yap sa Dunang Manggad,” will have participants planting seedlings provided by the mayor.
Meanwhile, Yap said his development projects in Ivisan particularly on infrastructure, education, peace and order, agriculture and fisheries will continue.
In infrastructure, his administration has constructed and rehabilitated school stages, the municipal library, health centers, plaza, walkways, street lightings and the fishing port in Basiao.
For education, the municipality also subsidized student allowances and sponsored municipal scholars.
In health, he is giving PhilHealth cards to indigents and free medicine as well as financial assistance during hospitalization.
For agriculture and fisheries, Yap said the FITS Center for farmers was set up and their fertilizers and seeds are being subsidized.
