Baysulangpu Society presents 3-man show
Three members of the Baysulangpu Society, the most vibrant Ilonggo artists group will hold a three-man show exhibit at the University of the Philippines in the Visayas on February 14-25, 2005 .

The exhibitors include Arnold Almacen , Melvin Guirhem and James Mark Salarda .
The exhibit entitled “Self Portrait” is the exhibitors' point of view towards the community dealing with the different lifestyle of human beings within a certain environment. The exhibit deals not only with the literal appearance of one being but also with the inner self expressions of an artist, including his personal sacrifices, experiences, opinion and belief towards the society.
Said exhibit, according to the exhibitors, hopes to uplift the Ilonggo talents. It is also expected to become a trendsetter among other Ilonggo visual artists.

Guirhem explained his artworks deals mainly with the human existence, value and condition in the past and the present times. It also tried to stress human struggle and sacrifices brought about by the global economic, and peace and order instability.
Salarda , on the other hand, said that his artwork deals mainly in realism. “We cannot escape the reality that life is full of curiosity and experimental desire,” according to Salarda .

Further, a photojournalist in profession Almacen described his artwork “A minimal execution but depth in meaning” in a single form of object. The violet background of his paintings depicts negative issues such as sexual abusiveness and environmental destruction. |
