DOT Dinagyang 2005 Photo Contest winners

“Viva! Viva! Viva!”  of Antonio Z. Rojas, Jr. of Arevalo , Iloilo City won the grand prize in the Department of Tourism Dinagyang 2005 Photo Contest. The photo won for Rojas, Php 12,000 in last Tuesday's (February 1) judging held at the DOT Office. “Viva! Viva! Viva!” was a consistent winner in the three judging rounds to select the five top winners and the 10 honorable mentions in this year's Dinagyang celebration.

The other winners were the “ Manok-Manok 1” of Chona B. Guintao of Jaro , Iloilo City for second prize, “Bola-Bola Tribe Leader” of Ernesto Villanueva of Burgos St. , Iloilo City for third prize, “ Pagtuo ” submitted by John Lester Santiago of La Paz was fourth prize and “ Nginiig ” of Cerius T. Omero of Jaro completing the major prizes.

A total of 209 entries were submitted for the competition with photographs from Manila , Roxas City and Bacolod City . The entries were subjected to three (3) judging rounds to be able to get to the final 65 entries where the five (5) major prize winners and ten honorable mentions were selected.

The 10 honorable mention winners were the “Full Battle Gear” of Nygel John Melitado , “Warrior 5” and “Warrior 1” of Ariel Joquico , “ Uno Biyente Singko ” and “ Nasa-eri ”, entries of Paul Ortaliz , “Time-out for Senior Sto . Niño ” of Evelyn Omero , “Bola-Bola Warriors” of Justin Go, “ Panghangkat ” of Aldwin Peñaflorida , “Poised to fight ” submitted by Ma. Socorro Martinez and “Now” of Ruben Ramirez.

The five grand prize winners and the other 10 honorable mentions will receive a plaque of appreciation and cash awards. A letter of notification will be sent to all winners stating when and where to claim their prize. On the other hand non-winning entries can be picked up at the DOT Office. Exhibition of winning entries will be announced soon.
