The city government has increased garbage fee to an average of 15%, do you think it is worth it? Why or why not?
NONEL GEMORA
Worth it yes. Although more awareness campaign needed and relocation of squatters along the river should be pursued.
RONILO PAMONAG
Can't comment on that much. Private and city ang naga collect sang amon basura. But I think that there would be no qualms about that if the people can improve garbage collection.
PEPE ISADA
As always things could be better. I am for the rate increase as long as it will translate to better garbage collection and equipment.
RICHARD ANGELES
Oh yes! Garbage collection has been very efficient in my area… I believe that whatever increase is well deserved . I have seen more courtesy with our garbage collectors than the usual “educated” utility representatives.
DR. FREDDIE LOPEZ
Yes. Our place in Molo looks better. I hope the idea of keeping public places as clean as private one catches on.
MICHAEL GORRICETA
I think it is OK to increase the garbage fee ‘coz we can also see the improvement in garbage situation of the city.
REGGIE AGUILAR
What is a 15% increase compared to a more efficient garbage disposal? If this would mean less flood from our drainage system, I would go for it. I just want to ask a favor, please do collect “unpaid” scattered garbage you happen to see around . It is not the money after all, right?
HAZEL HORMILLOSA
I didn't even know there is a garbage fee! But I just hope they use the money to buy large garbage bins to be placed at the pick-up points. What I usually see are large garbage bags lying beside the road like a kid waiting for the bus, unless a dog gets it first then you'll see it scattered all over the street. I think garbage bins will make their collection process easier and there'll be less eyesores.
MARISSA SEGOVIA
The city needs the increased fees to better services not only garbage collecting but in other aspects of solid waste management. As a private citizen, I am not very satisfied with certain aspects but also want to be part of the solution so I accepted the responsibility as co-chair of SWMB. I will appreciate your volunteering to help us with our IEC initiatives rather than possibly leading readers not to favor the increase. In our last meeting, our Mayor has directed Engr. Raul Gallo to ‘clean up open garbage' in key areas especially Gen. Luna st. and West Diversion.
CANDY CAMPOS
Am not satisfied. Coz the money we're paying is not worth the services rendered for the garbage fee collection.
EUGENE JAMERLAN
My garbage gets picked up now, it never was in the past so I cannot complain.
ATTY. JOSE “PEPE” DEMAISIP
Garbage collection efficiency under Mayor Treñas has vastly improved and so we have to support it even if it entails an increase in garbage fees.
LIZA ABANILLA
Of ‘all' course not! First they are not even consistent with the collection of garbage. Now they are increasing the fee when we are not even satisfied with their work in the previous years. Also the fees were too high for us to pay for the lousy job they've done. I can attest to that personally coz I'm paying extra bucks for others to collect my garbage. But I segregate! I SWEAR! It's a help.
JANE CAMPOS-JARANTILLA
I could see the city is cleaner than before and we cannot see any hills of garbage. But if they can improve frequency scheduled pick up of garbage, better and strict on following the pick up schedule. Other areas, garbage truck does not pick up the garbage so they hire a private collector which will be double expense for them. For malls, garbage is stationed in one area so no hussle for the city. So 15% increase is too high.
JOSEPINE HU
It's not worth it ‘coz the garbage being collected are lesser due to waste segregation.
EMMA NAVA
OK lang to increase garbage fee so long as the service is good and daily. But I wish the collectors would clean up after. They segregate and leave a mess.
SUSAN DELA CRUZ
As long as the city is clean, any increase is justifiable. We have no problem with our garbage pick up. It's done every night as scheduled. |
