Armada proposes goat-raising project

Vice Governor Roberto Armada sees the importance of promoting the Provincial Agriculture Office's goat-raising project.

He said the project could help boost the livestock industry in the province.

Armada suggests the goat-raising project should have an initial funding of 1 million pesos.

He said the fund could be taken either from the 20% Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) for 2005 or from the Province Surplus through a supplemental budget.

The vice governor said most of the fund would be used in the upgrading of native goats.

Armada explained the upgrading of native goats would be done through the imported goats from Europe .

He said the imported goats would impregnate the native goats in which it could produce an improved offspring of goats.

Armada said that the imported bores could impregnate 30 native goats in one season.

The vice governor added the amount of P1 million will be spent specifically for the training, incidental expenses and materials of the agriculture office and buying the 99 heads of imported goats.

He said a Memorandum of Understanding with the Agriculture's Office was already signed with regard to the project implementation. The target implementation of the project will be on April 2005 to 2008.
