New PRO-6 chief vows stronger PNP “The Philippine National Police (PNP) must strengthen itself up,” stressed Chief Supt. Doroteo A. Reyes II, the new director of Police Regional Office (PRO-6). Reyes challenged the personnel of the regional command that “the presumption that all police are good men must be proven”. “Together, we will defeat the evils of society,” he added. “Any police misconduct is a violation of the right of the people to be served and respected,” Reyes pointed out. He cited that “the good things my predecessor started will be continued”. Meanwhile, PNP chief Gen. Edgar Aglipay noted that the new Camp Delgado Administrative Building is “an example of continuity in the PNP”. “I hope this will be always the trend,” he said. Aglipay added that “all leaders who come after should continue the good things”. Citing his CARE (Courtesy, Action, Result, Example) program, he said the PNP should give courtesy to people, action through police visibility, result by apprehending wanted persons and solving cases and example of a job well done. Meanwhile, former regional director Chief Supt. George L. Aliño considered his stint in the region as a “Golden Era” for the police force, citing that Western Visayas was one of his favorite assignments. Aliño retired from service Tuesday, February 22, after a long 37 years of work in the PNP. In his speech, Aliño cited that during his term, the PRO-6 received the special award, besting all other regions in implementing the CARE (Courtesy, Action, Result, Example ) program of the PNP chief. Aliño stressed that under his watch the region's police had put emphasis on the solution of unsolved cases, arrest of most wanted persons and neutralization of criminal gangs. He noted the PNP-6 had a good performance in exercising their duties last election period. He pointed out there had been tight campaign against illegal drugs. “The PRO-6 conducted 536 operations, apprehended 747 drug personalities, cleared 95 drug-affected barangays and seized shabu worth a million pesos,” said Aliño . Likewise, Aliño expressed that there was no kidnap-for-ransom under his supervision while the police conducted pro-active measures in arresting notorious KFR gang members. “The streets are safer now with 26 percent decline in carnapping , robbery and other cases,” he added. Further, the PRO-6 took into custody 212 most wanted persons, which include three in the national list, 14 in the regional, 30 in the provincial and city, and 175 in the municipal level. Aliño said that what the culmination of efforts to enhance the administrative function of the PNP according to him is the P15-million building as a “legacy project” under his leadership. |
