Learning Resource Centers soon in Iloilo's 2nd district Soon people in the second district of the province of Iloilo will have access to e-mail facilities to get in touch with their loved ones in other places and do their research using the computer technology for free. During the 1st Livelihood Summit held in the municipality of Sta. Barbara, Iloilo recently, TESDA Director-General Augusto “ Boboy ” Syjuco disclosed that each of the eight municipalities of the second district has already been released its P500,000 fund for the construction of its learning resource centers. “The structure could be constructed near the plaza so that after dinner and mga kabataan makakadto kag matudluan . There will be instructors present,”said Syjuco . The center will be open to the public and will have computers with internet and other equipment related to computer technology learning. TESDA 6 Director Buen Mondejar said that TESDA will provide the building and the computers while the LGU provides for the operation and maintenance and other operating expenses of the center. In his message, Syjuco encouraged especially the young to acquire their skills training and development at TESDA. He stressed how hard it is, nowadays, even for college graduates to find the right job because of specialization. He said 60 percent of those who acquired their skills training and development at TESDA get jobs. “On your way to college, pass by TESDA, in order to acquire your training and skills development, then get a job, proceed to college later, pay it out of your earnings while your subjects taken at TESDA will also be credited,” said Syjuco . Syjuco said we could now expect a more involved TESDA – aggressive and proactive where it is ready to help those who are interested to develop their abilities to match the opportunities either in livelihood and income generation.
