Paraw Regatta photo contest winners bared “ Go!Go!Go !” of Rehena Sualibios of Dingle, Iloilo was voted by the judges to win the Grand Prize award in the recently concluded 33 rd Iloilo Paraw Regatta Photo Competition organized by the Department of Tourism Region VI. Sualibios photograph shows a colorful paraw with a striking “Go Iloilo ” written on its sail, which is an excellent piece to be used in the production of posters, flyers and other promotional and marketing materials as stated in the purpose of the competition. Go !Go !Go ! has won Sualibios a cash prize amounting to Php 6,000.00 and a plaque of recognition. The second major prize winner goes to Guijo Dueñas of Ybiernas St., Iloilo City in his work entitled “ Kabit-kabit ” that illustrates motion during the regatta event. Ma. Socorro Martinez of Molo , Iloilo City garnered the third major award in her photo entry called “Colorful Paraw Reflections” while Antonio Rojas, Jr. of Arevalo gained the fourth prize in his work entitled “ Karera Na! ”. Lastly, Eduardo Salavaria of La Paz won the fifth major award in his photograph entitled “Single Row”. Each major prizewinner will receive a cash prize and a plaque. Apart from the five major prizewinners, another ten entries were selected to be a given a consolation prize of Php 500.00 each and a plaque of appreciation as Honorable Mention awardees. The ten photo entries to win the consolation prize were “reflection” of Ruben Ramirez, “Near, Far, Far…” of Jose David C. Chiva , “Sea Girl” of Gina Ferrer , “Sa Idalom sg Layag ” of John Lester Santiago, “Blow by Blow” of Donna Marie Lopez, “ Duag sang Paraw ” of Romeo Pagulayan , Jr , “In Line for Iloillo ” of Erna Foerster , “Eager” by Jyh Ming C. Gonzales, “ Hulata Kami !” of Lilibeth Po, and “Challenging the Wind” of James Trimañez . From a total of 158 photo entries, 68 were accepted by the DOT including the five major award winners and 10 consolation prize winners. Likewise, 53 more photo entries were accepted as property of the DOT and will be given a certificate of acceptance, which means that their photo entries are now a property of the Department of Tourism. All accepted photo entries will be exhibited and will be made available in the DOT website: http//:corporate.mozcom.com/dot. On the other hand, all non-winning photo entries together with the certificates of participation may be collected at the Department of Tourism Office, Bonifacio Drive , Iloilo City.
