Dairy Fresh answer to malnutrition in Iloilo

Dairy Fresh products could be an answer to malnutrition in the province of Iloilo .

Provincial Agriculturist Inocencio Parian said the production of the Dairy Fresh in the province is a big help to solve malnutrition problem among students in the province of Iloilo .

He noted that Iloilo ranks second when it comes to the number of malnourished children in the country.

Due to this, he said, there is an initiative from the provincial government and the provincial agriculture office to come up with a dairy zone in order to produce dairy products.

It was learned that there is already a processing plant of fresh milk temporarily situated in Barangay Cordova, Tigbauan .

The milk processing plant according to Parian will be the center of dairy projects of the province.

He added that it is also the source of livelihood among farmers.

Meanwhile, the National Dairy Administration has assured of providing the necessary assistance to the dairy project. It was noted that there are additional cattle scheduled to be delivered within this year.

The students according to Parian are given a daily supplement of fresh milk. He said that when the milking cows will be added the milk supply for school children are expected to increase also from one glass up to 2-3 glasses of milk daily.

He said that aside from its livelihood opportunity among people it also helps solve the malnutrition problem among school children in the province of Iloilo.
