Antique searches for ambassadress of goodwill

The search is on for Lin-ay kang Antique 2005, Antique's ambassadress of goodwill. Binirayan Foundation, Inc (BFI), official events organizer of the Binirayan 2005 festival in Antique, announces the opening of the prestigious search for Lin-ay kang Antique.

The Lin-ay kang Antique is a competitive search for an Antiqueña who would serve as a model for other Antiqueñas because of her charm and beauty, wit and character, and who would serve as Antique's ambassador of goodwill to Antiqueño communities around the world and would help bind them as a people who could look back with pride and look ahead with confidence.

According to BFI executive director Alex C. Delos Santos, "we are looking for an Antiqueña who could articulate the needs and concerns of the Antiqueño, The Lin-ay kang Antique will be tasked to help the foundation in raising funds for its projects. Thus, we are looking for an Antiqueña, who has, more than pleasing physical attributes, initiative and motivation to help in the projects of the BFI , and can express her thoughts and ideas eloquently." The winner is usually sent abroad to meet with Antiqueño communities.

The competition is open to single women, 16 to 25 years old, who are Antiqueños by birth or have Antiqueño ancestry They must be 5'3" tall, with pleasing personality, and can speak Kinaray-a and English. Deadline for application will be on March 31.

The pageant activities will start on April 23. The candidates will be exposed to various activities such as a press presentation, coastal clean-up, in-depth interview and talents contest, The final presentation and coronation will be on April 28 at the EBJ Freedom Park, Lin-ay kang Antique 1977 Darlene Joy Tan Posadas will head the jury in the final judging,

The Lin-ay kang Antique began in 1974 as Miss Antique, and later evolved into Miss Binirayan, and eventually Lin-ay kang Antique. The Lin-ay kang Antique remains the most prestigious beauty and brains contest in the province of Antique . Past Lin-ay titleholders are Madelyn Tirol, Mylene Miciano, Mercy Joy Casumpang, Ma. Asuncion Panaguiton, Sheryl Ebon, Krishna Freya Constantino and Klarissa Grace Nebit, among others.
