EMB VI inaugurates pioneer ecological lab in the country

The Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) in Region VI is the lucky host to the first state of the art ecological laboratory in the country.

The ecological laboratory was inaugurated yesterday March 28.

Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Regional Executive Director Vicente Paragas said the region is grateful to have the laboratory facilities and equipment.

During the inauguration, Paragas urged DENR employees to cooperate in uplifting their office and to support the various programs they are implementing.

EMB Regional Director Bienvinido Lipayon said the laboratory would be the center of development for the environmental education and analysis.

He explained that the multi-purpose building would serve as the center of environmental studies.

The laboratory was built through the concerted efforts of the DENR, EMB and with the counterpart fund from Germany represented by Dr Johannes Paul, Project Team Leader. The edifice is a tangible legacy of former DENR RED Julian Amador and Engr. Roben Calvo, former EMB RD.

The ecological laboratory is named Director Roben A. Calvo Memorial Building in honor of the late environmentalist who was the brainchild of the project.
