Orleans seeks probe on wrong intel report City Councilor Marietta V. Orleans is urging the Sangguniang Panlungsod Committee on Police Matters “to conduct an investigation relative to the wrong information on suicide bomber involving my vehicle white Isuzu Crosswind with Plate No. XGX 518”. “It is very unfortunate that [I] became a victim of wrong information dissemination on the matters of sensitive and delicate issues,” Orleans lamented in a speech during Wednesday's regular session. She noted that last week, while the people observed the Holy Week, alarming text messages got its way to the media and perhaps to most of the people. “The message stated, Intelligence report from Police: Suicide bomber Isuzu Crosswind White Plate # XGX 518 please pass to our friends,” Orleans cited. Orleans added that checkpoints were immediately ordered by the Philippine National Police (PNP) to be placed in different areas of the city with an order to intercept and apprehend the subject vehicle. She further said that such order was relayed to the different units of the PNP in the field without counter-checking who was the real registered owner of the vehicle. Orleans pointed out that the Land Transportation Office (LTO) records show that she is the owner of said car. “What went wrong with the intelligence network of our PNP?” she asked. She stressed that she “would want to know the reason of such incident and this will be only known if proper investigation is to be conducted so that a necessary remedial measures maybe made such that the same will not be repeated in the future.” |
