What do you think of the 4 day work week of government employees? Will it make them more efficient? Why?
YANA OCTAVIANO
It's an absurd idea! Efficiency in government employee? Doubt it!
SAM PRUDENTE
Efficiency is a personal commitment, an internal discipline and NEVER the result of an external imposition. Those inspired to be more efficient will find ways. Those not inclined to efficiency or worse, never had the right attitude of service in the first place, will at least have ONLY 4 days LEFT in which to do damage.
JOHN CASTIGADOR
5 day or 4 day work week, it would not make a difference. Bureaucracy, red tape, paper chase, corruption and inefficiency will still remain!
KATHY VILLALON
No. Anybody who works continously for eight hours know that at the end of the day they'll be dead tired. They may not have enough energy to perform well if you add more work hours.
EDGAR SIA
I don't think so. 5 day work week still better….
HERSON CASIDSID
The 4 day work will make our government employees INEFFICIENT. I consider the scheduled work as impractical. Let's face it, many government employees are already inefficient for the 5 day work week, what's the guarranttee if we shorten it to 4 day work week?
DENNIS HOPILOS
No they don't. They are the only ones who can benefit from it, but when we say time for “ligoy” they have it. In fairness to those who are dedicated... May ara pa man da siguro….
CAROLINE JAVELLANA
What cost cutting! Even in 5 day work week they are not efficient, how much more for a 4 day work week?!
DODO DIMAGUILA
We will have to see the results. Let us not be afraid of change if it is for the better. We can always revert back if it does not work out.
COREL YAP
It won't make a difference. It is only a change of schedule. Efficiency comes from conducive work place, effective leadership, and honest and alert employees. Doesn't matter how many days of work there are.
ALAN SORIANO
Yes it will make them good parents.
STELLA ARUNGAYAN
It may save the government some money in terms of utilities but it is not a guarantee that the workers will be more efficient.
YVONNE SAPLADA
Efficiency is not measured how long you stay in the office but how you do your work during office hours.
RICHARD ANGELES
Efficiency comes with training, work attitude, proper job designations and a desirable working environment. With the 4 day work week, they now have an additional day to comtemplate whether or not they are “efficient” for the past 4 days.
FRANCIS GRIÑO
No comment in the mean time… I will study it further!
ARLEEN MERCADO
It will certainly make them more efficient only if they would strictly comply with the prescribed working hours mandated by this new policy. It would likewise give government employees more quality time with their families.
DR. CESAR UY
I don't think so. It won't change their work ethics. It will only delay the work they are supposed to finish in 5 days. And besides the primary purpose of a 4 day work week is to save on government expenditures not to improve efficiency of government employees. Maybe if you make them work 6 days a week, they might accomplish more.
JUN TILLAFLOR
Longer working hours for an employee makes him inefficient. It's tiring and boring.
ERIC SORIANO
4 day work week? Why not just fire those who come in every 15 th and 30 th of the month!
CIRILO CALABIO
No, it will just add up to the dependability problem – being late – if not all! I observed that many employees are coming late at 8 a.m. , how much more at 7 a.m. Efficiency is getting things done on time. Time element is not the issue to save and have quality output! It's dicipline, proper utilization of resources and putting things in the right perspective.
BEN HUR MOBO III
Efficiency is NOT measured by the number of workdays, but by one's ability to get things done in lesser number of minutes, hours, or days. Reducing the number of days work of the government may help save the government of the Republic of the Philippines some money. However, it will certainly NOT increase the government employee's efficiency… The only efficiency that will be enhanced are of those corrupt government employees who have to work overtime for skull duggery.
DENNIS GARGANERA
Efficient? Even if they will work 6 days a week, I still doubt our government's efficiency in giving its services to the people. On the positive side, it will cut cost.
DARREN BAJADA
If they're not efficient when working 5 days a week, I don't see what difference a 4 day work week will have.
JESS DIMAFILES
The 4 day work week will help government employees save especially with the rising cost of gas that affect the price of everything including fare. Re efficiency, highly questionable. If they are not efficient in 5 day work week, how much more in 4 days!
