Treñas seeks for full cooperation on ‘no segregation, no collection' policy Mayor Jerry P. Treñas is appealing to all residents of this metropolis to cooperate on the ‘no segregation, no collection' policy regarding the city's garbage collection scheme which started last April 15th. This, after the mayor received reports over the weekend that not all barangays were able to successfully implement the scheme since there were still a lot of unsegregated garbage seen especially along the streets at City Proper. The ‘no segregation, no collection' policy is primarily done in compliance with the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000. Treñas met with the barangay captains of the City Proper District yesterday to iron out the necessary steps to ensure that segregation before collection will be fully implemented. He will also check on the results of the other districts within the week. “Residents must separate biodegradable, non-biodegradable and recyclable household wastes before these are put out for collection. Residual wastes will be brought to the dumpsite for disposal,” the mayor said. He further added, “I am appealing to all my constituents to cooperate and help the local government's waste management disposal program. This scheme will surely minimize the dumping of unnecessary waste in our dumpsite in Calajunan, Mandurriao.” The mayor also said that the city government is bent on strictly implementing the afore-mentioned scheme and has been going around all the barangays these past months for its information drive so that the residents may be cognizant of the penalties and sanctions should they fail to carry out the scheme.
