Polibiz Gumising ka, Maruja! Maruja, a peculiar character played by Susan Roces in the film “Gumising ka, Maruja” shown in the early 70s, has risen from her grave. This time, Maruja is in her deep harrowing slumber in the world of Medusa in faraway fantasyland, away from reality. Surrounded by a bunch of showbiz misfits and scumbags, Roces has allowed these cretins to twist her brain and use her for their latest publicity ejaculation against the Arroyo administration. The Roces that many of her fans used to admire in the 60s and 70s is now a loud-mouthed damsel with a warped and serpentine character. Contrabida de maldita y eskandalosa hejo de (censored). She has lost control of her decorum and strayed from decency when she recently spewed venomous words against the Arroyo government at the time when everyone was calling for unity and political stability in the country now savaged by poverty and threats of destabilization. Her scandalous actuations in a recent press conference where she took a dig at Mrs. Arroyo have confirmed the fears of some people that she is not fit to assume the role of First Lady. It's good that Poe was soundly subdued in the May 10 polls. Roces could have been worst than Imelda Marcos in terms of social standing. Despite her ugly reputation as a “bullshit” first lady, Imelda Marcos, at least, had the moderation and finesse in dealing with the critics of her husband in public. But don't get me wrong. Imelda is still Imelda the rapacious and remorseless animal. She is her on sonnavabitch Imelda who mercilessly plundered the nation to its extremities. By mere mention of Imelda's name makes me vomit. Meanwhile, while political foes of Pres. Arroyo are offering an olive branch as a sign of statemanship, Susan Roces and her overacting minions are mocking the bastion of peace and democracy in the republic by their childish and rebellious acts. I pity her late husband Fernando Poe, Jr. who must be squirming in his grave now. If he can only rise from his coffin, he would spank his wife in the nape and wail at her, “Huwag kang magpaka- gaga, Maruja, gumising ka!” -o0o- The malevolent move of a certain defeated politician to further subdivide the already divided media in Iloilo deserves to be opposed at all cost. Because he failed in his bid to win the second highest post in the city, he now wants to team-up with a neurotic character who has two bouncing bulging-eyes and form a media group that seeks to validate the rancor among the media practitioners in Iloilo. He should be ashamed of what he is doing. Look what he did to R.G. Where is she now after the grand larceny? |
