DLR Sec. Villa keynotes 49th Aklan anniversary

Kalibo, Aklan—The Province of Aklan will celebrate its 49 th founding anniversary on April 25, 2005 with Secretary Rene C. Villa of the Department of Land Reform as its Commemorative Speaker.

The Secretary is among the most prominent and visible member of the President's official family who pursues sustained commitment to the programs and projects of the Department of Land Reform in Aklan.

Spearheaded by Governor Carlito S. Marquez, one of the major events to highlight the celebration of Aklan's 49 th anniversary as a province is the Aklan Piña & Fiber festival which runs from April 22-28, 2005. The week long festival and Agri-Trade Showcase is organized by the Department of Trade and Industry in partnership with the Provincial Government of Aklan.

The Department of Land Reform in Aklan is a consistent partner in showcasing the major products of Aklan's Agrarian Reform Communities (ARCs). Featured in the booth of the Kalahi Farmers Center are the products which includes piña and abaca fiber, sinamay products like cloth, bags, slippers, bariw mats, handicrafts from nito vine, vegetables like eggplant, ampalaya,, hybrid rice, lakatan and other vegetables.

The DLR in Aklan through its Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer Atty. Daniel Martelino expects more ARC products this time as partners in Kalahi Farmers Center made substantial contributions in providing direct support for the projects and marketing of products arising from ARC based business enterprise. It is a way of enhancing ARB products in generating high value and quality outputs and at the same time promoting the agrarian reform communities.
