To be conducted jointly with the DILG, the orientation will focus on the benefit of the system in enhancing local governance by generating relevant information in determining capacity development and service delivery requirements. The participants include: Tangalan, Nabas, Malay, Kalibo and Altavas (Aklan); San Jose, Libertad, Pandan, Sebaste and Culasi (Antique); Sigma, Dumarao, Panay, Pres. Roxas and Tapaz (Capiz); Jordan (Guimaras); Barotac Viejo, Banate, San Joaquin, New Lucena, Sta. Barbara, Ajuy and Concepcion (Iloilo); and La Castella, Calatrava, Toboso, Cauayan, Sipalay City and Escalante City (Negros Occidental). The training shall involve the Mayors and their respective Planning and Development Coordinators. They shall undergo hands-on exposure to, and application of the software, in order to heighten their appreciation and maximize their use of the program. In preparation for this training, a National Trainers' Training cum Workshop was earlier conducted for LGPMS Focal Persons at the regional and provincial levels. Nationwide, the LGPMS shall be conducted by six national training teams in 42 cluster trainings between May and June 2005. An inventory of local governments with internet access was one of the factors in determining their participation to this program. “The replication of LGPMS in all local governments is one of the priority programs of the DILG for this year,” DILG Regional Director Evelyn A. Trompeta explained. “Its indicators requires LGU data on governance, administration, service delivery, economic management and environmental protection. Its output, the “State of Local Governance Report,” is a sound basis for formulating the LGU's plans and programs for the incoming year,” she added. |
