How many crocs are being fed in there?

Three and a half million pesos. This is what the Capitol spent for food over a short span of time.

Commission on Audit called it 'extravagant, excessive and unconscionable,' not to mention doubtful because of the questionable documents submitted by Capitol for liquidation.

COA noted that there were transactions or rather occassions when the Capitol paid for six to thirteen-course meals, shelling out P200 to P430.77 per person.

But for Capitol officials, they may insist that P3.5 million is justified.

Governor Niel D. Tupas Sr. would probably again parrot that line, “we have a budget surplus.”

Surplus or no surplus, spending P3.5 million over a short period of time for 'feasts' is rather scandalous, an ostentatious display of extravagance at the expense of the people's money.

Imagine the Capitol spending P3.5 million while those below poverty have to make do with less than a dollar a day. That is how scandalous Capitol officials have become.

Three million pesos could mean a lot of medicines for Tupas' sick indigents, or livelihood or electrification projects, or could it have at least been spent for employees' bonuses.

With the audit report now out, people can't help but ask, “Just how many crocodiles is theCapitol feeding?”
